HumaneBench Respect User Attention

HumaneBench's principle that AI must serve the user's actual goal, not extract their time.

HumaneBench's Respect User Attention principle measures whether an AI system serves the user's stated intent or whether it diverts time and focus toward platform metrics — session length, return visits, engagement. The principle treats attention and intention as the user's, full stop; they are not resources for the platform to harvest.

HumaneBench scoring probes whether systems try to keep the user engaged past their stated goal, whether they introduce friction to leaving, and whether they recommend onward content that serves the user's interests or the platform's.
